...because thriving babies are happy babies
Being pregnant felt so magical the first time – and too long and hard the second time! I had two really different birth experiences, but felt no less proud both times. In the early newborn days, it was really beneficial to keep things simple. Creating a 'nest' to feed, rest, snuggle and truly bond with my babies helped me to become so attuned to them. I honestly felt that they were teaching ME, and I learned to respond instinctively and confidently.

Our 19 month old has had hardly anytime away from mum and dad, just a few hours here and there. Am so worried and scared when I go into labour how he is going to go and then how he will be when mummy doesnt come home for a few days and then when she does she will have a new baby in tow :/ Anyone else had this? How did you go?

Every site I visit, everywhere I look, there is discussion of the "joys of pregnancy" I have not found being pregnant joyful at all, yes I want my baby more than anything, but I am very over all the symptoms, discomfort and outright pain. I am 36 weeks and have gestational diabetes, I am huge, have restless legs, my tummy constantly hurts due to pulled muscles and ligaments plus all the other general issues. And it ends with the tremendous pain of labour and birth. I dont understand why all of this is never discussed, especailly with first time mums. I know it will all be worth it, but some honesty about the journey would be nice.

My husband and I are contemplating having baby number 3. We have 2 boys ages 5 and 2. We aren't fussed whether we have another boy or a girl. I am having medical issues at the moment and need to weigh up my options. My main concern is my family. My dad thinks 2 is enough, but I really want another.. Help please!

i went to the doctor today feeling like death... was up all night feeling pain and just so weak and going to the loo every 20 to 30 mins... doc says i have a UTI and thats why i have been feeling so off... am now on anti biotics and am hoping it will pass very soon... am soooo tired and crook :(

So, the title just about says it all . As some of you may know, I lost my baby girl Mariah not to long ago, I went into the docs after reading some of your comments on my other post (btw, thankyou mums for the support), doc said everything looks fine and that if I keep trying , I'll eventually have my little girl/boy .. But I'm just not so sure anymore! Should I be worried? I was also wondering when would trying for another baby be possible, I've been told a few months I was also thinking of getting a sperm donor... Mainly because I'm not in a relationship, and I really do want my little baby, sperm donors, are they a good idea? Thanks again for the help Karimumma's ! I love this site, it's my goto place (: x

I was exactly 38 weeks I tried different things just to get let down when they wouldn't work I tried everything that I could find on the net here's a list; acupuncture I have a big fear of needles & getting this done was quite brave of me or so Liam said, sex, acupressure, evening primrose oil, castor oil which made me very sick, black cohosh tea, raspberry leaf, curry, spicy foods, massages, I walked, jogging which was very hard with a heavy baby in your tummy, ate pineapple, relaxing, marching up the stairs, we rented a sad movie and I cried it's supposed to work, bumpy car rides, bouncing like a silly goose on my exercise ball, swimming, mowed the lawn, jumped on the swing in the local park, watched a funny movie and laughed, told Christian "It's okay to come out now" I waited & tried all of those things every day trying desperately to have my little man in my arms Liam just suggested we wait another few weeks & that Christian might enjoy it in my tummy I laughed but didn't listen. It was now the 19th of April and I was something like 38 weeks and 2 days. Storms were supose to work but I didn't want to wait for the weather to do as I said so I kept trying everything. My friend gave me a family recipe that had helped her to induce labour. I tried it & nothing. I feared that I would go into labour when Liam was at work because he works unreasonable hours. It was 1am on the 19th of April Liam was at work and I was home on my own the house we live in was quite large I had turned all the lights out & just had the sound of the TV to help me sleep I woke up to a really bad pain starting in my lower tummy and pulsing throughout my whole stomach. I kept my eyes closed and kept telling myself "This isn't it Christian has to wait until Daddy's home” … The contractions had stopped? So maybe after all that they weren't even contractions I laughed I got back to sleep a few minutes later. Again I was woken to a bad pain. I got up grabbed the phone & said to myself - leave it, you'll be fine. It was now about 1:50 meaning my contractions were around 40 minutes apart I still didn't believe that this was it this was the day & a bad day Christian had chosen indeed! Liam would get home at 4 in the afternoon For the rest of the morning here's the list of things that I did; ate toast then later threw it up, paced around the house, watched the sun rise, walked around the park & scared some birds when I had a contraction, walked home, sat down, lied down, got up, walked around the house, sat down, walked, sat in the bath, it was now 10am. I had been in labour for 9 hours. I called Liam and begged him to come home, he did. I hugged him so much when he got home. Straight after we went to the hospital When we got there they checked how dilated I was, I was over 4cm dilated and 100% effaced. They admitted me. They wheeled me over to a bed they strapped me down to all sorts of different things to check how Christian was going they checked his heartbeat strong as ever. I had quite a lot more really strong contractions I yelled at Liam & blamed every damn thing on him I strangely even mentioned that it was his fault for global warming? Don't know what that was about! I screamed at the doctor for relief a few contractions later they wheeled over the epidural the rest of the day got quite blurry I remember the pain was gone although my legs felt as if they weren't there they were numb I had to look down every now and again just to be sure. I was able to sleep when I woke they checked how dilated I was over 7cm. About half an hour later the epidural wore off I screamed at the doctor for more something anything WHY DID THE EPIDURAL WARE OFF SO FAST!? My contractions by this point were about 3 minutes apart & around a minute long I begged them for more epidural, Liam threatened to get the epidural himself & give it to me he yelled at the doctor so the doctor left It was just me and Liam in the room for a while he talked me through every contraction even though I kept telling him to shut up & f**k off although I obviously didn't mean it! I had now been in labour for about 15 hours the time was something like 4pm. The doctor came back in & checked how dilated I was 9cm & I still didn't have the urge to push so the contractions continued & seemed to get worse each time. Contraction after contraction breath after breath. That last 1cm seemed to take such a long time but finally the doctor checked my dilation 10cm. It was time to push. Push – breath those were the two things that circled around in my brain I pushed some more and not to long later I heard the amazing words the baby is crowning I heard his faint cries they cut his umbilical cord I was reaching for him they placed him on my chest he stopped crying & was looking at me with a shocked look on his face. Liam kissed both of us & I could see the tears I finally had my happy little family. Christian born on the 19th of April He weighed 7.5 pounds 17 and half inches He was so worth it.
