Hi again power16, I was talking to a mum at mothers group about concieving with PCOS as she also has it and is 15kg over her ideal weight, she told me she fell pregnant by using an ovulation test kit she got online, its what they use for ivf, the web site is PREGNOW and you can buy different items to help test for ovulation. i had a look at the site and the prices are better than in store prices. Just thought this might help. web address www.fertilitysolutions.com.au

How do you concieve with PCOS

I have polycystic Ovarian Syndrom and I would really love to concieve by the end of the year after my wedding. Has anyone else got PCOS and have had or trying to have a baby?

I have PCOS and we TTC for 18 months before going through IVF. During that 18months i lost 27kg through diet and exercise. Our first IVF cycle failed and our second one was cancelled as the scans showed only one follicle responding to the meds... that little follicle became our naturally conceived son! Between my PCOS and hubby's low sperm morphology we only had a 4% chance of conceiving naturally. But it happened! :) Since giving birth 10 months ago my period has returned and is as regular as clockwork so when we decide to go for number 2 later this year i hope it will be a bit easier.

Hi there, I have PCOS and we spent two years trying to get pregnant. I am very happy to say I gave birth to twin boys on Australia Day. So I can tell you it does happen, it just takes time! I am overweight and did not manage to lose any weight prior to falling pregnant. I ended up being on Metformin and Clomid, and I also was on several natural supplements given to me by my naturopath who specialises in helping women get pregnant. Once I was on all the drugs it took me I think 4 cycles to conceive - with help from my doctors we tracked my temperature daily and knew from that when I was likely to be ovulating, so we knew the best days to try. I feel very lucky to have two beautiful boys now and we will try again for a sister for them in the future, and will do both the drugs and the natural supplements again. GOOD LUCK!!!

wow... I have obviously been very lucky in terms of conception... I have PCOS and fell pregnant within 3 weeks of trying (unfortunately it turned out to be an ectopic), then 5 weeks the second time (resulting in my beautiful son) then the third time took 7 weeks, but was unfortunately another ectopic. With regards to the PCOS, everything I have read says that to have the best chance, the less excess weight you're carrying to begin with the better, and also avoiding certain foods... if I can remember the name of the website I found most helpful, I will comment it on here for you.... Good luck, I hope it happens quickly for you.

Hi power16, I was diagnosed with PCOS at 15 and told then I would have difficulty having children. A year later I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (they are linked) and then about 2 years later I was diagnosed with Endometriosis. Fast forward 10 years I stopped taking the pill in July 2009 and was trying to fall pregnant. 18 moths later and 6 weeks before our Wedding in March 2011 we found out we were pregnant. I had not had a period since November 2010 and we conceived in January. We now have a healthy baby boy who is six months old. So never give up and don't worry if you haven't had a period as with PCOS you can ovulate at any time, we are proof of that. Good luck :)
