although this is my first baby i have been a nanny for very small children and i must say i have already got a playpen sorted for my baby.....i found them to be fantastic, only used them for short periods at a time but with toys or a bottle in there to keep the child entertained it means a few mins to be able to safely go to the toilet or hang a load of washing out or vacuum the floor.....they are definitely a fantastic way of cheating :D

I wouldn't call it cheating. I've not used one but I would without hesitation. If you have a baby that is constantly on the go & you need to watch them all the time, having a playpen is a means of keeping your baby safe when you need to i.e. shower, toilet or phone call. I don't think it's cheating. I think it's smart parenting. (Unless your child is having a massive meltdown & you're ignoring them of course).

  • I havent used one but if I need a break from my girls I put them together in their cot with a few toys for half an hour and let them amuse each other lol they love it! I use their walkers when I dont want them into stuff they shouldnt be touching :) My twins are 9 months now and like to sneak into their big sisters room (she is 3) and play with her dolls. So cute to see how they pair up and get into mischief!

  • I have used playpens with all 3 of my boys and will definitely use one again this time around! In my experience they not only keep baby safely in one place & give you some time to do whatever you need, they also help baby learn to be ok away from you for a few minutes. They learn to get busy with a few toys and enjoy their own company - an essential lesson for happy kids I think!

  • I love my playpen. It's not for the baby/toddler, but for the older child to play in peace inside it. Also has another one as a barricade around the TV and DVD player.
