From my personal experience, there are a bunch of reasons, and no hard or fast rules, as to why toddlers can experience problems sleeping. It could be due to a change in feeding routine, diet, bedtime routine (like daylight savings changing), too much activity before bed or an inability to talk and express any discomfort. I found routine to be key here - stick to the same bedtime every night and allow a short wind-down time before that. I would recommend a story or bath time, or just special cuddles before bed. Make sure they're wearing comfortable night clothes and the temperature and bedding is regulated - not too hot or cold. Try to keep the rest of the house fairly quiet and the lights dimmed, and a calm environment before bed. If you are worried about their sleep routine, give our careline a call or see your health care professional for more information.

Going through some sleeping troubles with my twins who are 15 and a half month. Though I think it relates to the fact we are in a totally new house, state and the weather is so different to what they are used. I hate that some nights it can be hot (so I dress my boys in light tshirt short PJ and by 3am it is freezing..NOT looking forward to winter. Our other 3 boys (nearly 9, just 7 and 4 and a half year olds) also get up through-out the night and so Iit feels some nights I am a yo-yo haha (not that its funny). Having lack of sleep is the utter worst (especially when there is no catch up time). My twins sleep well norning and during the day for 2 plus hours, so I am not worried to much.

I sympathise! My 2yo twin boys are the same at the mo due to the changeable weather. I have hummed and hared about what to dress them in at night and I've chosen to dress them for the 4am temp as they don't stay under their blankets. This may mean we only put a sheet over them when they go to bed and leave the aircon on for a bit longer. I usually turn the aircon off (if it's been on) before we go to bed and pull a blanket (or extra blanket) over them then to. One of my boys sleeps heaps better if he has socks on on those colder nights. As winter approaches, I'm going to get those sleep suits that go over pjs and you can fold the feet over or back.

We had 4 books that all had bedtime themes and allow Hayley to pick one.Reading the story seems to settle her and she understands its time to go to sleep. Favourite bedtime books currently are What I love about Bedtime & Sleepy Animals...Sleepy Animals I can now recite without even looking at the book.
