Where to buy maternity wear?
In the early stages of pregnancy, you might survive wearing loose clothes or going a size bigger ... but as that bump starts to pop, you’ll probably need to invest in a few pieces of maternity wear. It can seem quite pricey at first, but our mums have shared some great tips to help: like borrowing from a friend, heading to your local op shop, community baby markets, or online. Where do you buy yours?
Maternity dresses, pants and jeans
When it comes to maternity essentials, items like maternity pants, singlets and maternity dresses top the list. Maternity pants and jeans allow you to pull the comfy band right up over the belly rather than sling it under. Bellybands are also a great idea if you want to wear your normal pants with a few extra buttons undone. Maternity dresses are also very flattering as they’re designed to show off your bump in just the right way. Where did you find the best maternity dresses?
It’s a good idea to start wearing a pregnancy bra early on for support. Some of our mums have worn maternity bras from as early as seven weeks. Look for a design that’s supportive but stretchy enough to grow with you. You’ll be amazed at how comfy they are with no underwire, even for wearing to bed at night. The comfort factor goes for maternity swimwear too - it’s designed to give you the extra support you need. Have you bought maternity swimwear?
Singlets have been a saving grace for many of our pregnant Karimums. Those with inbuilt support are great for wearing to bed (rather than a bra) to keep you comfortable. Maternity singlets with breastfeeding clips on the straps are also great for during and after pregnancy - simply unclip to feed bub!
