One of the lovely things about toddlers is nothing seems like a chore - they like to get involved in everything! Making them a part of the meal preparation process can keep them engaged and stimulated and also makes them more likely to want to eat the results of their labours. Talk to them about what you are doing and let them watch and enjoy the process! Get them to help out with easy tasks, such as rinsing vegetables or taking items out of shopping bags. A trip to the supermarket can help them learn about fruits and vegetables - ask them to identify common and easy to say items and congratulate them on their efforts.
