Week by week

Mum, it’s me!

Guess what mum? We’re in week 22 and I’m not so little anymore! I now weigh around 450 grams and I’m stretching myself out to about 28cm long. I’m slowly getting the hang of this ‘moving around’ business and I’m a lot more in control of my rolls and kicks. My body and face is starting to look a lot more like a little newborn too, although my skin is still pretty see-through. Oh and mum, I’m turning into a bit of an eavesdropper – oops! That’s because I love hearing all the noises outside your belly. I’m starting to know your voice, so if you feel a few extra kicks, that’s just me practicing my dancing or wanting to join in your conversation ... it’s my way of telling you I love what I hear! Do you know if I’m a boy or a girl yet? I won’t spoil it just in case, but if I am a girl, my ovaries already contain millions of eggs. And if I’m a boy, my scrotum’s well developed. Now there’s one to tell dad!

How are you?

Let’s face it; your body shape has changed dramatically. It’s a beautiful, natural and very temporary shape, so enjoy showing it off while you can! There’s a great selection of stylish maternity clothing out there now to suit all budgets, so you can choose good quality clothes in flattering styles and wear your baby bump with pride.

You might feel like your skin is looking much fresher and plumper, giving you a youthful, almost rosy, glow. That’s because during pregnancy your skin retains more water and your blood is pumping through your body for the both of you. While that’s wonderful news, sleeping may be a different issue altogether. Have a read up on our sleeping positions including how to use a body pillow to help you feel more comfortable.
