Mum, it’s me!
Where am I right now? Probably curled up in the classic foetal position, arms and legs crossed, pushing right into your bladder ... oh yes. I’m a little whopper that weighs almost 1.1kgs, although I’ve heard every baby’s different at this stage. You might’ve noticed the change in my movements as I’m growing. The important thing to remember is that you should still feel the same amount of movements from me every day. If you ever feel worried I’m moving less, always check with our midwife or doctor, just to be safe. Oh and mum, don’t know if you’re aware, but expect me to roughly triple in weight by the time Week 40 gets here!
How are you?
Your body may be changing radically in shape and size, but hopefully you’re still loving being pregnant. Taking it easy on yourself will help, and if you’re still at work, it might be worthwhile re-thinking your work routine. Put your feet on a stool or box under your desk and take plenty of strolls and breaks throughout the day.
Make sure you’re getting plenty of foods such as fortified cereals, leafy greens and well-cooked lean red meat in your diet too – it’ll help your baby gain weight and the iron you absorb will create the red blood cells it needs.
The dreaded stretch marks are common around the 30-week mark of pregnancy too – you might notice faint pink or brown streaks on your tummy, hips and breasts. Wearing a supportive maternity bra will help you feel more comfortable, and other mums here on Karimums have their own remedies for stretch marks. If you’re in the 90% of mums that get them, anything’s worth a try!
